TPU 3D Printing in Tbilisi

TPU is a flexible, rubber-like polyurethane: a part can be bent, squeezed and stretched thousands of times and it springs back. Where rigid plastic cracks, TPU simply flexes.

It is the material for everything that has to cushion, seal or protect: gaskets, dampers, cases, bumpers. In wear resistance TPU outperforms most rubbers.

TPU properties — when to choose it

  • Flexible and springy: bends without cracking, returns to shape, absorbs vibration.
  • Wear-resistant: handles friction superbly — wheels, treads and pads last long.
  • Oil and fuel resistance — better than PLA or PETG.
  • Grippy: high surface friction is a plus for feet, handles and pads.

What TPU can’t handle

  • Being rushed: flexible filament prints 2–3 times slower than rigid plastics — honestly reflected in timing and price.
  • Fine precision: very thin, sharp features come out less crisp than in PLA.
  • Rigid structures: if the part must not bend, TPU is the wrong material — take PETG or ABS.

Hardness: which TPU we stock

Our base TPU is Shore 95A: springy but composed rubber — think a car CV boot, not a silicone mold. A 2–3 mm part flexes noticeably; thin walls are almost soft. Very soft parts, like food-grade silicone, are not achievable with FDM printing — we will say so honestly at the quoting stage.

Infill works as a shock absorber in TPU: the lower the percentage, the softer the part under compression. Handy for dampers — you tune the stiffness right in the calculator with the infill slider.

TPU printing price

Material — 0.18 ₾/g. Total = weight × price per gram + printer time at 12 ₾/hour + setup; minimum order 35 ₾. Slow printing means more machine time for TPU — the calculator accounts for it automatically.

What people print in TPU

  • Gaskets and seals: for non-standard housings, joints and lids.
  • Dampers and feet: absorb appliance vibration, protect furniture and floors.
  • Cases and protectors: guarding gadgets, tools, corners and edges.
