Alexander3D artist and CAD modeller at Archam printHe scans parts, rebuilds their geometry in CAD and prepares models for printing and manufacturing. He works in Geomagic Design X, Fusion 360 and Blender and scans with a Creality Raptor. He quotes every job himself and replies within an hour.
Three typical jobs
- You have a broken or worn part. Send photos with a ruler or bring the part — we measure, reconstruct the geometry and print it. Typical lead time 1–3 days.
- You have a photo, an image or an idea. A figurine, a stand, an enclosure, a named gift: Alexander models it from the reference, shows a render for approval, then we print.
- You have a 3D scan or a drawing. We accept STL, OBJ, PLY, point clouds and PDF drawings. Output: clean CAD in STEP and an STL for printing.
What Alexander does
- Scan to CAD: CAD reconstruction from 3D scan data with mesh cleanup.
- Reverse engineering: recreating a part from a sample with fits and tolerances.
- Modeling from photos and references: from a souvenir to a device enclosure.
- CAD from drawings, dimensions and measurements.
- Modifying existing models: reinforce, resize, add a mount, adapt for printing.
- STL preparation for printing: watertight mesh, wall thickness, orientation, splitting large parts.
- Export to STEP, STL, 3MF and other manufacturing formats.
Tools
- Creality Raptor 3D scanner: accuracy down to 0.02 mm, parts from a keyring to a bumper.
- Geomagic Design X: CAD reconstruction from scan data with deviation control.
- Fusion 360: parametric models, assemblies, drawings, STEP for manufacturing.
- Blender: organic shapes, figurines, renders for approval.
How price and lead time are set
The price is calculated individually for each project: it depends on the complexity of the part, what you can provide (a sample, scan, photo or drawing) and the accuracy required. The quote is free and work starts only after you confirm.
Modelling starts at 75 ₾. That is the price of a simple part from a scan or measurements, for example a drum pedal component: scanning, CAD and the customer’s logo took an hour and a half. Parts with fits, assemblies and housings are quoted by the hour, usually from one day. Send a photo, scan or drawing on Telegram and you get a price and lead time within an hour. The quote is free and work starts only after you confirm. If we print the part too, modelling and printing go on one order.
Model and print in one place
A model made by a freelancer often needs rework for the printer: thin walls, overhangs, holes in the mesh. Here the modeler and the printer are in one studio: Alexander designs for printing from the start, and the first print checks the fit. If something does not fit, we fix the model and reprint without arguing about whose fault it is.
Case studies: from scan to finished part
Real jobs by Alexander. Each case shows the original part or scan, the rebuilt CAD model and the result.
Licence plate lamp for a Mercedes W220 a part no longer sold
New lamps are discontinued and every used one is cracked. We measured the original, modelled the lens and mounts and printed it in clear material. The owner now drives without fines for an unlit plate.
Drum pedal component from 75 ₾
Scan, CAD model in Fusion 360 and the customer’s logo. An hour and a half of work, our typical minimum project.
Housing ring of a Varytec XHERO stage light
A rental company cracked the housing of a moving head. We scanned the surviving part, rebuilt the ring in CAD, printed it with brass threaded inserts and painted it. The new ring is indistinguishable from the original.
Profoto flash housing
A complex housing with vent grilles and seats for the electronics. Scan, deviation map, parametric model and a test print that fitted first time.
Skid plate for a Land Rover Defender
We scanned the chassis and suspension, then designed a plate around suspension travel and mounting points. The part was cut from metal from our STEP file and installed.
Chassis part of a Vestax DJ turntable
A broken platform of a vinyl turntable that cannot be bought anywhere. Scan, geometry reconstruction with deviation control, print. The part fitted the original mounts without rework.
Radiator grille: merging scans
The part did not fit into a single scan. Several scans were aligned into one, the mesh pattern was rebuilt and the missing fragment printed.
Wooden toy boat: parametric model
From a scan of the toy we built a parametric model that can be scaled and modified, then rendered several variants of it.
Questions about modeling
How much does a 3D model from a photo or scan cost?
From 75 ₾. A simple part from a scan or measurements takes an hour or two; parts with fits and mechanics, housings and assemblies are quoted by the hour, usually from one day. Send a photo on Telegram, the quote is free and takes an hour.
Can you reconstruct a part from a broken one, without drawings?
Yes, that is the core of reverse engineering. We need photos from all sides with a ruler, or the part itself. Alexander measures it, rebuilds the geometry allowing for wear and tunes the fit on a trial print.
In which format do you deliver the model?
STL for printing, STEP for manufacturing and editing, and on request 3MF, OBJ and the source file. The model is yours.
Do you work with 3D scans?
Yes — STL, OBJ, PLY and point clouds from any scanner. We clean the mesh and build clean CAD on it rather than a polygon surface.
Can I order just the model, without printing?
Yes. Modeling is a separate service; the file can be printed or manufactured anywhere. If you print with us, we check the fit on the first piece.
3D printing with delivery across Georgia
We print in Tbilisi and deliver anywhere: Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Gori, Poti, Zugdidi, Telavi — 2–3 days, from 10 ₾. In Tbilisi a courier brings it next day, and pickup is free. Distance doesn’t change the printing price — the calculator quotes the same for the whole country.
